Default TEMS Investigation 17.0 Release – Samsung Galaxy S6 Support, CA enhancements

    Product Highlight

    Samsung Galaxy S6
Just 5 days after it was revealed at Mobile World Congress 2015 the new flagship device from Samsung, the Galaxy S6, was announced as supported by TEMS Investigation. This particular model of the Galaxy S6, the SM-920F, is a LTE Category 6 device with the ability to handle data rates of up to 300 Mbit/s DL and 50 Mbit/s UL. It supports a wide range of frequency bands; 12 LTE EUTRA bands, 5 WCDMA UTRA bands and quad band GSM, making it suitable for several markets worldwide.

In addition several other models of the S6 and S6 Edge are expected to be supported in TEMS Investigation in the near future when they are launched in markets around the world.

    _____________________________________________________________________________

New Features in TEMS Investigation 17.0
Carrier Aggregation Enhancements – Strengthening LTE-A Capabilities

    What is It?
Additional measurements for carrier aggregation on selected phones. Serving cell parameters are added for the secondary carrier to visualize its physical resource block allocation, signal strength and quality, and its frame timing.

    Why Do I Need It?
Analyzing Physical Resource Block allocation is key to understanding if a potential throughput bottleneck resides with network traffic scheduling or, for example, in settings of the UE data transport protocol amongst a wide range of possible factors. This can greatly facilitate network optimization and troubleshooting in today’s complex networks.

    Logfile Optimization Enhancements

    What is It?
Custom logging filters can be configured as a script action, allowing you to minimize the amount of data collected for KPI reporting activities, e.g. 60% logfile reduction for VoLTE/data service testing.

    Why Do I Need It?
With TEMS Investigation, unlike many similar solutions on the market, users can choose to collect the full richness of measurements available from a device. For some use cases with a clear KPI profile, however, sometimes beneficial to keep the logfiles to a small size by only recording relevant data. This makes them easy to share, quicker analyze and reduces needed storage space.

Usability enhancements – Cloud-based sharing of settings

    What Is It?
The new TEMS Investigation Launcher utility lets you share product settings and configurations across different locations. As an example scripts and logfiles can be stored in a central location with updates quickly pushed from one TEMS Investigation kit, allowing any number of other TEMS Investigation users easily update to the latest settings without having to manually manage and send files.

    Why Do I Need It?
When working across multiple teams concurrently, be it at a live event or across regions, it is in many cases vital that everyone run the same tests in the same way in order to create comparable results. If for any reason the test settings need to be changed, be it to change focus from data to voice, or due to a downed server, it is critical that these changes are propagated quickly to all test kits so that test integrity is maintained. This prevents user from having to edit test cases individually, which is error prone, or scramble to coordinate with a team leader.

System Information Decoding for LTE scanning

    What Is It?
Decoding of System Information during LTE signal scans is now supported both with PCTel scanners (EXflex, IBflex, MXflex, and MX models) and with the Rohde & Schwarz TSMW.

    Why Do I Need It?
Decoding broadcasted System Information (SIB) messages allow deeper analysis of the network when performing passive measurements provided by a scanner. SIB information can for example identify the specific operator for a scanned channel and other network parameters that would otherwise only be available from a phone. This is particularly useful when surveying a heterogeneous network consisting of many different bands, channels and operators.
    On-device Digital Audio

    What Is It?
The digital audio stream is tapped directly from the smartphone’s audio stack, which means it can be intercepted before its affected by some of the phones settings and audio adjustments. This makes it possible to calculate AQM scores either on the handset or on the PC, using the same digital stream.

    Why Do I Need It?
On-device digital audio reduces the impact phone audio settings has on the MOS score, providing a more network-centric scoring which also enables a more stable comparison of audio MOS even when changing handset models as they are upgraded over time. This also makes it possible to eliminate the need for special audio processing hardware, reducing cost and complexity.

    Device Detection Enhancements

    What Is It?
The progress of the device detection procedure is indicated step by step in the user interface. Should the detect fail, a hint is given whenever possible on how to have the device successfully detected.

    Why Do I Need It?
Better insight into the device detection procedure can enable faster configuration of your drive test kit and assist with troubleshooting, and save valuable time during setup and in-field.

    Network Scan with PCTel Scanner

    What Is It?
The network scan procedure, aimed to explore an unknown radio environment and detect any mobile network carriers present, is now supported also with PCTel scanners (MX, MXflex, IBflex). As a first step, PCTel network scanning is supported for LTE and WCDMA.

    Why Do I Need It?
The network scan survey result is useful when operating in an radio environment where either all or some carriers are unknown. The results from a network scan can be used to configure a more comprehensive and detailed scan on individual channels or bands. Performing a similar survey manually using normal scans are time consuming to perform, while the network scan is optimized to achieve quick and accurate results with significantly less effort.

    PCTEL MXflex support

    What Is It?
The PCTEL MXflex is PCTEL’s latest and most advanced scanning receiver. It combines the concurrent data collection of the PCTEL MX with the flexible configuration of PCTEL’s software license scheme.

    Why Do I Need It?
The flexibility of the MXflex allows user to initially start out with a configuration supporting only what they need today in terms of supported frequency bands, technologies and options, and at the same time have the capability to quickly grow the feature set as new markets, technologies and spectrum becomes relevant. This flexibility introduced for the MX platform provides users with a cost efficient platform without having to sacrifice performance.

It is so sad if they don't support old log file, they should backward support.
