fully in the updated users and reference manuals. This document can also be accessed from the
Help
menu ("Addendum: Current Version").
New Features
•
Network Design Module section for LTE Systems and Networks [EDX SignalPro + NDM only]:
An LTE‐specific section has been added to the EDX SignalPro Network Design Module. This
includes the following:
o
Built‐in support for LTE‐specific profiles and band plans, including choice of Channel
Bandwidth, FDD or TDD, Cyclic Prefix (Normal or Extended), Intra‐LTE (Inter‐eNodeB)
and Inter‐RAT handoff parameters.
o
LTE‐specific Adaptive Modulation uplink and downlink tables based on 3GPP standards
and MATLAB simulations of CQI versus C/(I+N).
o
Built‐in worksheet to calculate system performance and settings based on LTE‐specific
parameters, such as FFT Size, CP Compensation Distance, Symbol Rate and number of
Resource Blocks based on the Channel Bandwidth, OFDM Modulation, CQI,
MIMO/SDMA Configuration, TDD Configuration, UE Category and Cyclic Prefix settings.
o
Cell ID Group (Pseudo‐Random Sequence) planning tool including automatic and manual
assignment while keeping track of previously assigned values and blocked value ranges
(user programmable).
•
LTE‐specific studies [EDX SignalPro + NDM only]: These Network Design Module studies
include downlink OFDM & uplink SC‐FDMA Adaptive Modulation & CQI Regions, Composite
System Coverage by Modulation Region, Uplink & Downlink data rates and Uplink Interference
calculated using deterministic C/(I+N), stochastic and Monte Carlo CQI prediction studies.
•
LTE‐specific Monte Carlo study [EDX SignalPro + NDM only]: The Network Design Module LTE
Monte Carlo study can predict the following LTE system performance metrics:
o
Uplink CQI presented in both plot and summary report form.
o
Uplink interference statistics including per‐sector mean uplink C/(I+N) and noise rise.
o
Subscriber capacity for AM, and UM service types on a per‐system and per‐sector basis.
•
Integrated "spreadsheet" data entry and editing: Base Transmitters (Sites and Sectors), CPEs
and Link systems can now be edited in a spreadsheet format which allows entry and editing of
this data in a manner similar to that provided by the existing Microsoft Excel® interface. The
spreadsheet editor also has improved data import and export features, data filtering and group
editing.
•
K‐factor sensitivity analysis for microwave links: This enhancement to the link study predicts
link fading caused by changes in the K‐[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]factor (effective earth radius caused by changes in
atmospheric conditions) for both the main and diversity links.

•
Sector‐specific specification and modeling of MIMO‐A/B and SDMA (Adaptive) antenna
systems: Advanced antenna systems, including MIMO‐A, MIMO‐B and SDMA/AAS (Adaptive)
antenna systems can be specified for each individual cell/sector. There is also an improved GUI
for specifying MIMO & SDMA gains and improvements for coverage, capacity and interference
analyses. A new checkbox has been added to the Area Studies dialog box that allows the user
to set whether or not to use MIMO/SDMA adjustments.
•
Additional Simulcast Studies for P25 and TETRA (Hess method). [EDX SignalPro only]
•
ITU R‐1812 propagation model implemented.
•
New Longley Rice propagation model setup dialog.
•
ZK Cell Test measurement data has been added.
•
Drive test plot legend added: Drive test measurement plot legends are now displayed in the
Legend Window for the Measurement Data map layer.
•
Enhanced micro‐cell and ray‐tracing studies. [Microcell‐Indoor Module only] Various Network
Design Module analyses such as Neighbor List Planning, Traffic Planning, Automatic Frequency
Planning, etc. are now compatible all with micro‐cell (ray‐tracing and indoor) propagation model
methods.
•
Support for DTED terrain file directory structures.
•
Increased color levels from 10 to 40 for viewing terrain.
•
Enhanced COM interface features: Export capability added to COM interface for converting
Area Study plots to various file types (SHP, MIF, TAB, etc.).
•
Link display option to display based on Group name: The link display customization is set up in
the Links Style dialog from within the Map Layer dialog.
•
Additional KMZ (Google Earth) study plot export: The Most Likely Server plot can be exported
as a KMZ file for display in Google Earth.
•
Improved screen capturing and printing: Save As Image can now save based on the printer’s
Print Preview window
•
Connectivity with Siradel’s VolcanoLAB [EDX SignalPro only][FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]: Enabling the use of Siradel’s
propagation models from within EDX SignalPro’s user interface.

Feature Improvements
•
Site/Sectors/Links/CPEs names – A larger set of possible characters is allowed for these names.
Better handling of Site/CPE/Link names.
•
Base Station, Mobile Station and Link Systems transmitter and receiver antenna specification
terminology choices have been changed from “DA” to “Use (antenna pattern) file” and “Omni”
to “Isotropic (no antenna file).” Base Station transmitter “Distributed” antenna system
description has been changed to “Leaky Coax.” Excel and COM interfaces now use the term
“Antenna Pattern” instead of “Directionality.” These labels more clearly describe the antenna
choices that are available.
•
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]LTE has been added as a Base Station system type choice. WiMAX is now a unique system type
choice for each Base Station sector (no longer “WiMAX/LTE”). [EDX SignalPro + NDM only]
•
The TSB‐88 study setup dialog has been moved from the RF Systems menu and to the Studies
menu. [EDX SignalPro only]
•
The Area Studies dialog now allows for a maximum of 20 studies (from 10).
•
The Network Design Module Packet Switched Traffic Loading is now separate for WiMAX and
LTE/UMTS in order to accommodate the unique service type definitions that are in IEEE and
3GPP standards. [EDX SignalPro + NDM only]
•
Moved the ‘Delete’ context menu to the bottom of the menus for Site/CPE/Link to help prevent
accidental deletions.
•
Added HEXAGON option to Mesh Layout.
•
DTED – Updated to allow the same named files in multiple directories.
•
The user can now edit link reliability methods directly from within the Link Receiver Antenna
dialog
•
Several changes have gone into the Excel macros. Many columns have been removed and some
have been renamed. This does have the potential to affect users who are using the Excel
macros. Renamed columns will now display as if they had the old one hidden. There may also
be legacy CSV files with columns that are now deleted. Users will need to edit their CSV files so
they reflect the following column header changes:
o
Sectors macro
