Cleartone CM9000 programming not working
I am trying to make use of some really old Cleartone CM9000 tetra radio's who have been decommissioned, i want to put in DMO talkgroups.
So far i have the Programing software "CM9000 PROG TOOL 2.0.5" and home-made serial programming cable (9 pin to 9 pin)
Cleartone CM9000 programming lead.jpg
I cant find the radio on any COM, have gone troug all the hoops regardins serial COM selection and even tried "Serial to USB" adaptor, but no luck.
Do i need to put the radio into "programming mode"? All i have done is power the unit up and connected to my PC running WIN7.
Would appreciate all suggestions

Re: Cleartone CM9000 programming not working
There are basically two versions of this radio:
3 Watt version (TG00082AA) and 10 Watt version (TG00083AA).
To program the 3 Watt version, use software version 2.05 or 2.05A.
To program the 10 Watt version, use version 2.06 of the software, version 2.05 only handles the lower wattage model properly.
Older radios have a green backlight, newer radios have a blue backlight. Fortunately, this has no effect on the operation.
I have a total of 3 of these radios, I use Windows Xp Pro SP3 to program all of them, never had a problem. The radios are detected automatically, you just have to set the right COM port (real COM port), connect the programming cable (yours is perfectly adequate) and you can read the terminal.
There are three band band versions:
TG00081AA CM9000P-3 380-400 MHz, TG00066AA CM9000P-4 410-430 MHz and TG00071AA CM9000P-5 450-470 MHz.
The higher power version can also be used as a DMO repeater after entering the activation PIN code purchased from the manufacturer.
Importantly, it only supports 1B repeater mode, where reception and transmission are on two separate frequencies.
The newer M0t0r0la MTM-5xxx radios do not recognize this, they will not connect to such a 1B type DMO repeater and unfortunately this is also true backwards, the CM-9000 will not connect to a 1A DMO repeater where the transmit and receive frequency is the same.
I think this information is more than enough.

Hi there,
3 Watt is more than enough, it can be aligned through the service menu.
Have a nice weekend

Re: Cleartone CM9000 programming not working
Finally managed to get the radio up and running, thanks for all the help. My homemade serial data cable was the culprit
Does anybody know if there is a “ignition cense” input? Can’t fin online the wiring diagram for accessory’s & etc.
