Default Nokia features LTE953 vs LTE1049

    Hi experts,

what is the difference between lte nokia features LTE953(MDT RL40) abd LTE1049 (MDT- UE MEasurements logs)
Its not that much clear for me, but seems LTE953 was an early try of MDT till MDT was later defined on 3GPP, am I wrong I dont know but thats my theory.
Any help on this some nokia expert.

    Hi Tomas,

LTE953 is not 3gpp based MDT. It is nothing but possibility to collect and send to L3 analyser L3 messages obtained from various interfaces.
•LTE953 is a feature designed as an alternative for expensive drive tests performed during network deployment and optimization. The solution focuses on coverage optimization in the intra-frequency LTE network.
•LTE953 is an automated ‘utilization’ feature of trace-related features LTE570 Periodic Measurements, LTE644 Configurable Cell Trace Content and LTE433: Cell Trace, which collect useful data for determining the problem with more accuracy.
•LTE953 MDT profile is a combination of selection rule, UE limitation rule & activation rule which together define the trace session configuration intended to derive target conclusions.
•The collected data is available in the NetAct TraceViewer or a 3rd party protocol analyzer.

On The other hand, LTE1049 represents 3gpp solution that allows UE to measure issues in idle.UE stores some messages for certain eriod of time ( including RF conditions) and reports it to enodeB when UE is in connected state. It requires suport from UUE side .

•Flexi Multiradio BTS configures UEs to measure the cells in RRC IDLE•Measurement logs may contain following information:
    •location information
    •timestamp
    •serving cell ID
    •serving cell measurements
    •neighbor cell measurements
•Measurement area can be configured as: a list of cells, tracking area or entire PLMN.
The feature comprises of the following procedures:
•configuration of UE measurement logs and
    •retrieval of UE measurement logs.
Content of UE measurement log :
The UE measurement logs contain the following information:
    · location info (GNSS information is optional for the UE)
    · time stamp
    · serving cell ID
    · serving cell measurements (RSRP, RSRQ)
    · neighbor cell measurements (RSRP, RSRQ, RSCP, Ec/N0, RxLev,...)
The UE collects the measurement data during RRC IDLE and stores is up to 48 hours. The maximum log size is 520 entries. The configuration of UE measurement logs and the retrieval of measurement logs is applied only for UEs with related UE capabilities and with according settings of the IE 'Management based MDT allowed' The IE 'Management based MDT allowed' is received either via S1 and X2, e.g. at initial UE context setup or during handover. The IE is forwarded during X2 handover.
Configuration of UE measurement logs :
UE measurement logs are configured for UEs in RRC CONNECTED via a dedicated RRCoggedMeasurementsConfiguration message.
The configuration of UE measurement logs is done either
    · for UEs with the related capabilities or
    · can be restricted to only those UEs supporting location information in case of cell trace.
MDT in combination with cell trace shall be applied can be either, e.g.:
    · a list of up to 8 TACs or a list of up to 32 cells
    · all cells, no cell (switch off) or all neighbor cells
The logging duration and interval for logged MDT is operator configurable per cell.
Retrieval of UE measurement logs :
The Flexi Multiradio BTS retrieves the UE measurement logs automatically once the UE changes from RRC IDLE to RRC CONNECTED with the RRC:UEInformationRequest message. The eNode B considers for this procedure only those UEs which are matching to configured MDT trace sessions and which have indicated with the
    · RRC:RRCConnectionSetupComplete,
    · RRC:RRCReestablishmentComplete,
    · RRC:RRCReconfigurationResponse or
    · RRC:UEInformationResponse
message that measurement data is available. The retrieved information is included to the trace records for cell trace.
    Benefits:
The UE measurement log function can be used to minimize the drive test effort.
    SW Interdependencies:
    No feature interdependencies.
    UE Requirements:
    3GPP R10 UE capabilities
