Default 5 CA support in Samsung S9

    HI Experts,

5 CA support is supposed to be supported in Snapdragon 845 chipset of Samsung S9.

We had analyzed the Ue capability messages and could find only up to 4 CA band combinations.

    What does this mean,..?

Does this have any dependency on the Ue capability request from the network ...

    1) In one of our case, Ue cap request just had the Technology details ie EUTRA, and there was nothing else requested.
    2) In another case, there was a field called "requested frequency band" along with Technology ie EUTRA.

Also, UE capability information didn't have 2 CA in UL which is supported by Samsung S9 845 SD chipset.

Do all these above observations show that the network is not ready with 5 CA in DL or UL CA and so the Ue is not showing in Ue capability messages, but hard to believe from the content of Ue capability request...

Are you sure the S9 you are testing is Qualcomm based? Samsung use their own chipset (Exynos family) for the same model e.g. S9 in some markets, while in others (US for example) use Qualcomm.

    Yes Qualcomm SD 845
My doubt is the operators say sprint use to release new firmware upgrades to these devices.
Currently for sprint it is 3CA support by network as well as 3CA is shown in Ue cap infrmtn

So if sprint plan to release 5CA in network, it sends a firmware upgrade to Samsung S9 to support 5CA

I feel currently the phone is locked from 4CA or 5 CA since network is yet to support these

    What you say?
