Exclamation ******** MTM800E - strange issue with Frequency Range

    Hi all!

Playing with MTM800E 450 MHz (M80RCS*) radio and found strange thing. Radio is declared by ******** as 450 MHz version that covers 410-470 MHz (per brochure, BSM, etc.). When I read its original programming, frequency range clearly appeared as 410-470 MHz in both DMO and TMO modes. But after my programming with CPS Plus 7.4 and further firmware uplift to MR5.14.10C (App image R17.000.8491), radio become 440-470 MHz in both DMO and TMO modes. In this way I am unable to use any frequency below 440 MHz.

Here are proof pictures. Before upgrade:

    After upgrade:

    MTM800E-range_after.jpg

What is this? MR5.14.10C firmware release bug?

Of course I can easily fix this problem with Depot direct CP edit, but I am interested in reasons of this appearance. Because average user don't have access to Depot, and have a great chance to face with serious issues.

    Hi my friend,
    i have bad newsMTM800E.jpg
I think you get the radio opened with depot, after the upgrade it is on original factory range.
Please chek the range from the Kotorola selling chart (image).
    M80PCS6TZ*** = 380 - 430 MHz
    M80RCS6TZ*** = 440 - 470 MHz

The problem is: if you upgrade the transceiver, thel lost the extended range and got factory range.

Gabor, you do not understand. 410-470 is factory range when factory firmware is used. These radios were never touched with Depot and come 410-470 from factory.

And this is cover page from BSM that confirms this band as standard one:

The question is why this radio locks down to 440-470 after upgrade and using CPS Plus 7.4?

    Hi there,

    sorry tho hear it.
I have one same modell as your.
But my is only 440-470MHz from factory.
I'm expanded it with depot to 430-470MHz range to use in the HAM-band.
It is a big problem if differend bandsplits with the same modell number exists.

It's kinda strange why ******** do that with us. Same M/N, same Type, but different freq. ranges in different firmware releases. And it is especially strange that 410-470 MHz is indicated in all official documents (I am not taking into account Oppermann website, because it's just a web site, but not document).

    What Motoola mean by that?

Looks like ******** changed low end of split from 410 MHz to 440 MHz in some release. I don't have all release notes, but MR5.7 still supports it.
