Default Problems with ******** mtp 850

    Hello partners.

I have a problem with a ******** mtp 850. Change the cps depot setting and when I stopped the walky it did not turn on again. That is, I try to enter programming mode and the screen does not turn on. Some fellow by chance has an idea how he could revive it?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Did you use serial or USB cable?
If you used USB and windows detects it as unknown hardware, the radio is corrupted.
To recover it, you will need the appropriate firmware (.z19) and/or MR (.rpk).
But most importantly, you will need a backup from your codeplug, otherwise you will risk losing tuning data.
If you lose tuning data, you will have to have the device retuned - and there ain't too many shops doing that.

In either way, you will need the serial cable to recover it.

Oh, and is this MTP850 or MTP850S? In earlier releases the firmware images were not shared, as they are for later firmwares (R13 for MTP850 and R31 for MTP850S)

Hello, I use the FLN9336A serial cable. Using serial cable or usb, windows still does not recognize it, but I think the problem is that the no screen turns on.
then I try to put it into programming mode but it does not enter, since on the screen it does not indicate anything like before.
tried with several versions of cps plus, even with cps plus depot but with that does not go into programming mode I can not do anything.

    It is a ******** mtp850. I have some R13 firmware

From that ******** I have some R13 firmware

    1) Connect the serial cable
    2) set radio into programming mode
    3) use detect radio on com port in CPS
If it find something, you might be able to revive it. With good luck, the automatic recovery will kick in.
You will however need the exact firmware package that was in the radio AND a working codeplug.
Check the backupcodeplugs in the cps directory, and make an extra backup from the radios codeplug if it's present there.

Don't forget to set FLN9636 switch to flash, not data.

Thank you very much Shuttleman and Bup, I followed exactly your instructions and the radio came back to work.

Again, thank you very much for your patience.
