    It's an old thing, and there were articles on this one before. Back when I was working for a vendor we were bidding for the London - Frankfurt path as well. Think in the end Colt communications got it, and I remember that Aviat had a modification of their product that did not do baseband conversion, but simply relayed signal onwards, drastically reducing latency for the packet based MW.
    Funny enough our idea was to use STM-1 based MW with EoSDH, as it also had significantly less latency end-to-end. Who would have thought that old technology would be better suited for advanced application like M2M trading.
    I've also heard rumours back then that the idea was to continue with MW links from Frankfurt all the way to Moscow (?!).
