Question Defining Idle TS in Flex abis

many bts of ours are suffering from High Abis congestion due to no idle TS . for example

RR2752:Congestion Rate of Dynamic Resource Assignment (16 kbit/s)(%) R9101:Number of Application Attempts of Abis Timeslot R9102:Number of Successful Application Attempts of Abis Timeslot R9109:Number of Unsuccessful Application Attempts of Abis Timeslot Because of no Idle Timeslot

    6.3391 130551 111823 18727
    4.0584 90188 82324 7864

Should increase the number of idle TS decrease the abis congestion and improve throughput? All the above sites are already having 4 E1 and it is tough to provide more E1 due to budgetary issue. Sites are having flex abis with huawei 6900 rbs .

Look you have demand for GPRS/EDGE so you need to change back FLex TS to normal TS and define idle TS more.

Thanks mate. Do you have any specific formula for defining idle TS in flex abis?

For each channel you need to define extra 3 idle TS (as these are 16k in Huawei). So for Total 1 64k EDGE TS you need 3 IDLE TS on Transmission last 16k come with definition of PDCH 64k=3x16k(IdleTS)+16k(own transmission of channel)

how many TRX do you have
in my network using 1E1 for 9 TRX so the other can make for idle timeslot
i used idle timselot calc like i found in this website

    http://www.finetopix.com/showthread....=idle+timeslot

below is the formula for calculating the idle timeslots for 16K ABIS,

    =(n*32*4-(n*4+4+(x*8-BCCH-SD)+Roundup(x/2,0)*4))

    where
    n=number of E1s
x=Total number of TRXs in the site
B=number of total BCCH timeslots for the site for example if there are three cells in the site it would be 3
SD=Total number of SD timeslots (not count of SDs rather timeslots)

as it is evident from the formula that first part of formula n*32*4 basically calculates the total 16K timeslots available and the then remaining part calcultes the used timesl
