    Default NSN Quality related Drops Improvement with Parameter Optimization

    Hi NSN Experts,

    Could you pls advise if there are any parameters which can be tuned to optimize the quality related drops, we have changed the BCCH for many sites but the reuse is quite tight - so changing BCCH and downtilting is not an option, the only way around is to play with parameters.

    need some suggestions regarding parameter optimization

    Hi Alliz,

    You need to do more deeper analysis to find the exact cause of quality degradation. It may be due to Hardware Issue (check the alarms), Wrong Parameter Setting of parameters (like HOC, POC- compare it with the default parameter setting) or Freq Interference.

    For the freq interference also, you should check whether its the BCCH or TCH Freq clash. As a thumb rule, BCCH Plan should always be as clean as possible (being the heart-Beat of the cell :P) and for TCH interference, it can be mitigated to some extent by using Freq Hopping. So, the best solution is to plan the freq-reuse better else go for physical optimization of the site(downtilting or orientation).
    Meanwhile you can try to change the Radio Link Timeout setting, decrease Cell-Size by reducing power or you can change the TRP of the cell to TCH (if only BCCH has interference) so that max traffic is pushed to cleaner TCH Freq.

    Make sure Intra-cell handover are disabled, Secondly change Quality based triggering handover threshold (If its 5 change it to 6).
    Change Neighbour Handover window size to higher value and in last step change the handover window size of source cell to higher value.

    Basic concept is to reduce number of handover attempts based upon quality so that PBGT occurs before quality based HOs.

    - you can enable this para: callReestablishmentAllowed
    - Increase: Radio link timeout for AMR FR HR
    - Reduce HR ratio: change btsSpLoadDepTchRateLower & btsSpLoadDepTchRateUpper
    - Reduce Att HO from FR to HR
