PM FASsTrack® for the PMP ® Exam – Support v8.0.0.2

Okay, I was trying to install v8006 and after *****ing the application I was receiving the error message that "There was a problem generating the exam. Your data files could be corrupted".

I saw that you can overcome that by installing v.8002 first but I couldn't find it online and never managed to download it. but I could find a workaround using v.8006 only.

1- install the PM FASTrack PMP v8006
2- copy the file "app_config.xml" into a safe place
3- ***** the application using ckinfo+ method mentioned in the thread
4- then proceed by updating the questions database
5- now rename the app_config.xml again after the upgrade to something else (for example app_config.xm_) and replace it with the app_config.xml file from before the *****
6- now open the files and replace the "0" in the below line with the number you'll find in the same line but on the xml file after *****ing:
<question_index>0</question_index>
7- also replace "demo" in the below line with the license ID number from the other file
<license_id>Demo</license_id>

Now you have an updated and *****ed file, but u still shouldn't start the application while connected online or it will force you to update your database which will corrupt xml file again.

How ever you can search for update to the questions database every now and then and after the update redo the steps 6 and 7 again

Thanks for the .tmp files note… two files are created in “C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Temp” when you start the application, “ck delete.list” and CKS***.tmp. You can firewall “C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Temp\*.tmp” and/or “C:\Program Files\PM FASTrack PMP v8\PM_FASTrack_PMP”. The effect I looked for is to block the corruption of the app unintentionally and remember me to turn off the Internet to run the application (By the way, you can turn Internet on again a couple of minutes after the application is running).

The database corruption happens because you are updating software that you activate MANUAL because NO connection to the Internet is possible. You can also use the updated or corrupted app_config.xml file, change whatever <last_update>xxxxxxxxx date it has, change to "1348256690", disconnect the Internet access, run the program and it will run, but when you go to the Help-> About… screen the system will show "Last question database update on: 9/21/2012". Also nagibs touch the point of changing the <question_index> and the “license ID number” above…

I will try to replicate and document whatever I do last time... Google for raduga_fb & Crypkey for interesting info.
