I think there is this application for Autotether with USB mode setting. I have been using S3 with this application where in I can choose usb mode like

The autotether,apk is an application belong to Anite for Handy application, not available for TEMS but can try to use it...

To connect S4 i9505 with Tems 15.x or 16.x..

please dial *#0808# on phone.. change connection type to RMNET+DM+MODEM...reboot

connect phone to PC.. no need "USB TETHERING"...work perfect on my PC with tems 15.x n 16.x...

For connect I9505 to tems need install pocket tems on phone

you can connect Qualcomm chipset samsung (depending on tems license) with tems without problems

After connecting phone give enough time for TEMS to detect it
do not press connect button while detecting even if TEMS shows device name
when detecting progress bar finished searching then press connect button , in this case you will see RAT & Frequency band lock as well
else
you will not see them.
