EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
Hi Guys with experience in EVDO Rev.A
How many users you account for a Sector Carrier with average data rate of 300-500 kbps?
Also, incase of Rev.B with 3 carriers binding what is the average data rate you describe as average and what is the user capacity per sector carrier?
What is the sale-able capacity and its ratio with respect to active users per sector carrier?
Kindly share your findings.

Re: EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
We use 45 users per sector/carrier as threshold. if more, then you need to increase capacity

Re: EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
To calcuate appropriate user threshold per sector you should have valid traffic model for your network.
You have to account for user behaviour and their data profie, and also subs online ratio, subs activity ratio etc.
But even more effective to have performance management system that can calculate data rate per every user excluding idle or dormant time.

Re: EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
to calculate how many user for each carrier we need the how much percentage user in traffic mode, its need to calculate how much user can be served, if we take 100% so with 300 kbps user expected, in 1 sector EvDO RevA it just can serve 10 users in same time

Re: EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
you can not use 100% because users do not transmit/receive data all the time - it is subs activity ratio - depends on package plan, user profile, usage quotas, time of the day (week), traffic composition etc.

Re: EVDO capacity per sector per carrier
We assume 7 users as active/SC
For 4 Rev.A carriers = 7x4=28 users (ACTIVE)/Sector
For the 3 Sector BTS we have 28 x 3 = 84 ACTIVE users/BTS
For Saleable Capacity = 84 x 5 = 420 users per BTS.
(If we take 7 users as active then average throughput per Sector/Carrier would be 7 x 300Kbps= 2Mbps)
Assuming similar to the above mentioned calculation, kindly inform how many users then you can account for Saleable Capacity and as the ACTIVE users???(It is obvious here that we're assuming 100% activity factor)

100% is an ideal condition, but its cannot be reach..

CMIIWi EvDO BTS Channel element board now can deliver 256 concurent user. so it will be limited by CE board at BTS i think,so we cannot reach 420 users at same time

You are right but 420 is not concurrent user number. It is Saleable Capacity. The concurrent/Active users I am speaking of is 85 for S444 EVDO Rev.A configuration.
