Default TCH mean holding time in GSM (MHT)

    Dear all,

I want to know what is the formula used to calculate the MHT and what is the default value.

Also if the MHT is very low, does it mean that there is some probleme with the quality of the speech?

    Does FER impact the MHT?

    Best Regards

MHT is the duration during which a MS is using the TCH in the cell.
So if it is too short, it means either the calls are dropped as soon as the TCH is seize... or there is a HO taking place immediately. Check your drops and your outgoing HO : are they high ?

If drops : HW problem, probably
If HO : settings are done in such a way that HO are triggered quickly from this cell.

Thank you ashrafeto for your answer.

Do you know the formula used to calculate MHT.

In our network, we have some cell with very bad FER but we don't know if it impact the CS service or PS service our both. so by checking the MHT can we know that the quality is bad or
    not impacted

    Dear,

The Mean Holding Time for TCH reflects the average duration of calls on traffic channel.

formula: (Traffic * Time duration(s) ) / (Number of Calls + Incomming Handovers)

This statistics is depending much more on users behaviors, it's not really reflect a specific problem in the cell.

To be sure you need to correlate the MHT with drop call rate for example.

    Regards,

a little click on is very appreciated
