Just for mention.
XP isn't necessary.
P45E and P48M works on W7 x64.
Must check your PC.

I have windows7 with virtual machine xp , omt only works in this mode, and there are some usb -serial that does not work well with the rbs6000.
I use relative old usb to serial (Chinese) one, we call it black converter cause its colour.
I leave W7 to find and install driver don’t used manufacturer, … and its work.
In MW field only Siemens Local Craft (Sral, SRA, Flexy) and NEC PNMTj only for Pasolink NEO (reason no NEC USB driver for x64 but works on W7 for old Pasolink V4) don’t work on W7 x64. Just for that I use virtual machine with XP.
For example E******* MINI-LINK Craft 2.17.1 (2.15.2 , …) works ok but stay on IE8 (IE9 makes problem), Huawei Web LCT you can copy installed version from some XP machine and use it on yours W7, etc, …
I have the same problem i was running OMT 48M in W7 without any problem (WITH RBS 6000) , but one day start to have this message " Overlapped I/O operation is in progress".
Now i run OMT 48M WITH VM & WXP and everything is ok .
I have the same problem, I connect to hyperterminal but when I connect to the OMT does not work.
I am using windows 7 ultimate with virtual windows xp mode , it works ( OMT45M). USB serial Aten drivers.
