I think what the author mean is PESQ based MOS.

Most of drive test and benchmarking tools support PESQ MOS measurements: Ascom Qvoice/Symphony, TEMS Investigation/Automatic, Swissqual, Couei XCAL, Nemo Outdoor, ... even some Chinese tools like DingLi Panorama, Rising, ... The best tools should be Ascom Qvoice/Symphony. Nemo Outdoor are widely used in by their prices, but there some problem with that tool that MOS score should be different if you use different handsets. TEMS is also a good tools for PESQ MOS measurements.

Each tools comes with its own reference samples. I know that TEMS Investigation has them by default.

    Hello all.
Can you tell me, what value of DL & UL MOS got you in measure of real 2G networks.
We using Nemo with AQM modules and MOS server to measure MOS. Usually UL MOS is approximately 3.2-3.3 and DL MOS - 3.8. Is this difference normal?

On 2G, PESQ is between 3.6-3.8 for full rate or AMR and 3.4-3.6 for harf rate. In TEMS i saw similar, but not so big difference. On DL, the sample is coming from the server to MS, so you have good radio conditions. On UL, MS antena can't as good as BTS antenna so you will get a lower value. A big difference can be seen when MS is far away from the antenna. For TEMS PESQ, the difference in less than 0.4 between DL and UL.

Thanks, knack. In my case difference is greater, than you said. May be it is problem in low UL Siglevel.
