As we know that EDGE uses 3 bits per symbol compared to 1 bit per symbol in GPRS. 1 radio timeslot corresponds to 16kbps, therefore 16*3=48kbps.
So how can we achieve 59.2 kbps on air interface???

Very good question.
Even with recent technology of native IP transmission that can generate 1Gbps but the fact is it is only transmitted max at 400Mbps on air interface.
I wonder if the bit rate is readapted when the signal goes to air interface.
I haven't seen any answer.....
