Telecoms Academy is one provider of telecom certificates (nice ploy). I remember doing a WIMAX Certification program with them two years ago. They did not bother to even inform me about the whereabouts of my certificate. I did not call them either to claim my certificate, because the program was very mediocre, and the certificate in itself has little use for me.

Re: Certifications and Courses in Wireless Communications

They value the knowledge rather than the experience. Sometime experience doesn't reflect the knowledge.
Having a certificate is good, but to cope with the material is rather difficult.
I also went to an NSN training. It was great, but the best thing was when it was also followed with workshop.
I dislike those trainings without workshops.

Here my friend. Since i found this forum i can guarantee you that here you will find more info and profesional opnions for almost all type of equipments and telecom areas than every course or certificate you may find out and this will be more valuable for your as engineer and of course when you apply for a job...
Just find the library section or ask in different other sections, and you will understand what i mean... :)

Re: Certifications and Courses in Wireless Communications
Hi friends,
I have searched for certifications and found that NSN is making one for LTE and found that NSN has partnership with prometric testing .
but that all what I have found.
Anyone know any additional info about NSN certifications?
How much does it costs ? and if it has any restrictions like internal employee of NSN or other things?

Re: Certifications and Courses in Wireless Communications
I think we should collect some brain storming question and post it into finetopix and start finetopix certified RF Engineer.
-
Re: Certifications and Courses in Wireless Communications
I think these kind of certifications is quite complex for telecommunication since every vendor would have its own certification. Btw, experiences is more valuable then certificate.

Re: Certifications and Courses in Wireless Communications
Usually experience and recommendations from previus employers/jobs are the best sources of good people in telecomm , I will always prefer an old fox that can solve any problem on the field right away, or find the right person that can save the day than a bunch of fancy papers on a folder... Any certification only tells people that you showed up to class and passsed a test at some point, specially on those given by vendors to operators, but a person´s real value is proven on the field. No matter how impressive your CV looks on paper, but your best presentation card is your past work and how satisfield are your previous employers.

Although certification might not hold a very great value, but good training certainly holds some value in helping you learn new technology.

I agree. I also have taken a few classroom style trainings. But I don't even like to mention them on my resume, because I didn't take home any much practical stuff from them
