Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. Im using Samsung SGH-A737 (Qualcomm mode) for field testing. I need to lock the UE to a specific UARFCN. There seems to be an option in the field test menu to do this (*#197328640# --> option 4 --> option 3 --> option 2), but even with that the UE doesn't lock to the UARFCN that I want. Any ideas??

i know how to lock mobile in 2 modes namely:

automatic mode: gsm + wcdma.

umts only modeL wcdma only.

so you need to do *#3685247*# then select number 3 two times to go to modes.

hope this helps.

bye

Thanks for the replies. Both codes work only for locking UEs into different bands i.e. 850/1900. I'm trying to lock onto a specific channel since one of the band (850) has multiple channels.

Hi

With A 737 you cant lock to a UARFCN it is possible to lock in band only i guess its the limitation of the Samsung A 737

I wonder if Samsung or LG have any phones that can lock into specific UARFCN. I am trying to find a cheaper alternative to TEMS phone.

Thank you. I have checked a few phones but I can't find any codes with lock UARFCN or lock frequency channel. Do you see any of them that can do this ?

Now I'm thinking about getting a Nokia phone to use FTD NetMornitor 9.1/9.2. I recall someone in this forum told that it can lock onto specific UARFCN.
http://phoneftd.blogspot.com/2009/07/field-test-mode-on-nokia-symbian-phone.html

Last week, I have checked estimated prices with TEMS Pocket Classic and Nemo Handy FT. Prices are way too expensive for me. I'm quite surprised that price of Nemo Handy is a higher than TEMS Pocket. I don't need any features for data collection or data anylysic either. I would like to have only forcing features to lock band/channel/cell/scrambling code for field test.

Today I just installed FTD on N95. But I wonder if I can lock only UARFCN with no scrambling code or not. For instance, there are two UARFCN 4382 and 437, in each of which has 2-3 scrambling codes. In this case, I tried to press 0438200000 or 0043700000 but it didn't stay on UARFCN I wanted. Anyone has the tips for locking only UARFCN (with no scrambling code specified as manual says) ? I would like test softer handover on each UARFCN.

-----------------------------
Quoted from FTD manual
"11.6 Display 46.06: FDD BTS Carrier Lock Mode

This screen is used in BTS carrier lock mode to retrieve FDD Frequency and Scrambling code. The frequency and scrambling code is entered as one decimal value. Both frequency and scrambling code are five digits. e.g. entered value on FTD is '1060000040', where '10600' is the BTS test frequency and '00040' is the test scrambling code. To clear the BTS test mode user enters '0000000000'."

I have found that if I locked the phone to particular frequency and scrambling code. After I cleared it, phone seems to stay on that frequency for a while. So I think I can use this trick to make phone stay on the frequency channel I want to do handover. It might need a few attempts sometimes.

However, to check handover, I tried to check on page 46.05, freq and scrambling code are not updated while making call (FTD_SB_RRC_PLMN_FREQ and FTD_SB_RRC_PLMN_SCR_CODE). They freezes at the initial values. So instead I checked page 41.12 for frequency of home cell (FTD_SB_WDSP_FREQ_INTRA) and 41.13 for active scrambling code with highest Ec/N0 (FTD_SB_WDSP_DETECT_INTRA_BSID_1) -> Is this the primary scrambling code ?

If yes, then in the last 3 screenshots (please see the picture below), it means handover was successful from scrambling code 372 -> 140 -> 372 of frequency 437. Am I correct ? I just wanna clarify how I can observe WCDMA handover on Field Test for S60. Thank you in adv.
