Hi,

As we know that EDGE uses 3 bits per symbol compared to 1 bit per symbol in GPRS. 1 radio timeslot corresponds to 16kbps, therefore 16*3=48kbps.
So how can we achieve 59.2 kbps on air interface???

Hi,
as you said that EDGE uses 3bits per symbol, this is the key. EDGE has different modulation type with GPRS. Please read again your EDGE modulation document for more details.

Very good question.

Even with recent technology of native IP transmission that can generate 1Gbps but the fact is it is only transmitted max at 400Mbps on air interface.

I wonder if the bit rate is readapted when the signal goes to air interface.
I haven't seen any answer.....

Dear expert, kindly need your explanation here...

Dear

The 16kbps is on Abis interface ? when you want to have MCS9 you should define on abis at least 4 Abis subtimeslots of 16kbps then the cell can give MSC9 in a very good C/I .
