5G isn't estimated to be out for another 10 years or so. I'm sure by then we'll have our spray on "Tattoo Phones", Phone Earrings, and repeaters that plug into light sockets (oh wait, China already has that http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/china/2013-10/17/c_132806591.htm ).

I've been reading quite a bit on various avenues being looked at for 5g and one is 'Massive MIMO" utilizing small cells. With massive MIMO multiple messages for several terminals can be transmitted on the same time-frequency resource, maximizing beamforming gain while minimizing interference. This made me think of how Nextel was ahead of their time when they created antennalope as seen in the below video. I know I for one am going to share my MIMO story with all the non-technical ppl who ask me about 5G and maybe you will too! Enjoy (especially if this is your first viewing) and please +rep if it brought a smile to your face :)

Actually, this video came out in 2003 and still is my favorite Telecom Commercial ever! Oh the memories...

Below is a good explanation for how 3G works and is the third video in the series for those who enjoyed the above :)

Hmm... maybe this is perfect for the Dense Urban areas of 5G. This was 2/3 in the ad campaign. Enjoy :)
