Hi all! iOS 6.1 was released on January 28, 2013. It seems this upgrade leads to increased Fach drop on iPhone 4S when it
trying to switch during Fast Dormancy from Fach to Ura-PCH with the reason "radio-connection-with-UE-lost".

Please check your counters and give some feedback.

i am not competent with E// but what u said sounds like impossible to me:). I am pretty sure they do support it. just ask the guys here dealing with E// how to configure cell pch instead of direct reconfiguration to ura pch.

Yes the new software release created the problem worldwide (iphone4S). after new update

UE can lose NW synch if it stays on FACH longer than approx 10 seconds, sometime UE cannot receive CS call and connect PS on FACH state.

Apple already released new update yesterday for this issue

This is true. The fast dormancy was implemented to save battery power but had a significant impact on network signaling as well, so they had to review it.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
The intention of this PLM info is to make markets aware that a SW fault was introduced in Apple iOS6.1 which affected iPhone4S and which led to significant degradation to NW performance in several markets. iOS6.1 was released on 2013-01-28, and Apple released a correction in iOS6.1.1 on 2013-02-11.
The NW impacts depend on the market penetration of iOS6.1, and to some extent on the NW configuration. Since this fault is confined to the combination of iPhone4S and iOS6.1, E******* recommends that each market contacts Apple directly for further details. The reported NW impacts include:
•· Significant degradation in PS retainability
•· Significant increase in RSSI
•· Decrease of Paging Success Rate
•· While on CELL_FACH state, UE can loose contact with NW, and cannot initiate or receive signals from the NW during that time. This includes inability to receive pages, initiate new calls and start PS services like browsing or downloads.
•· Load increase observed in NW nodes

WORKAROUND
Not applicable
No NW remedy or workaround exist.

SOLUTION
Please contact Apple directly for information on the SW solution delivered in iOS6.1.1.
In order to mitigate the NW impacts, E******* recommends operators to actively promote the uptake/deployment of the Apple SW correction.
