Hi guys, is anyone a member of IEEE? What are the benefits of becoming one? Which particular one would best suit mobile network engineers? Looking forward to some feedback. Thanks.

IEEE membership doesn't bring too much if you are in operator. You need to become member of IEEE and some of societies that are inside IEEE. Best one for radio engineer is Communications Society, Antennas and Propagation Society and Vehicular Society. It brings access to some small number of magazines and papers and in order to receive more you need to pay for them as well. It is of great benefit for university people, scientists, students etc... and it is good to find out about new technologies but exact information about equipment products, as you need it for work within operators is not availbale.
Other societies close to afoementioned are Signal Processing Society and the society dealing with statistical theory of telecommunications.
Other benefits are discounts for attending conferences organized by IEEE.
Just to add, if you are student (including PhD studies) you can have membership at very much discounted rates. It is really big difference comparing to regular prices. If you come from low income countries you can also have decent discount.
