Hi friends,

How can we convert voice traffic/Video traffic from Erlang to kbps/Mbps and vice versa?
Is there some direct conversion model or not?

I am talking about 2G/3G Voice and video on Um/UU interface.

Looking forward for suggestions! :)

those are different concepts. There's no how to convert.

1 Erlang = 64 kBps x 3600 seconds x 1 byte/8 bits = 28.8 MB of traffic in one hour :p

1 Erlang = 64 kBps x 3600 seconds x 1 byte/8 bits = 28.8 MB of traffic in one hour :p

So this means:
1kbps = 1 Erlang/3600 X 8/64
1kbps = 0.0000347 Erlang (For the case of Video)

For case of voice call:

1kbps = 1Erlang / 3600 X 8/ 12.2
1kbps = 0.0001821 Er

To convert from Erlang to Mbyte use the following equation:

T

- Traffic (volume) = Traffic (Erlang) * 3600 * Bearer BR * AF

Maybe www.erlang.com (http://www.erlang.com) could make it faster for you. There are some online calculators whre you can get throughputs and blocking rates for Erlang traffic.

Brianm,
Thanks!
Can you elaborate AF?

Brianm,
Thanks!
Can you elaborate AF?

AF = Activity Factor

For voice services most vendors recommend to use 0.6
For data services most vendors recommend to use 1
