Hi All,

see how Ceragon Networks does Header Compression for bandwidth hungry applications. see the link below

Double link capacity at no extra cost

cheers

Well, it's not like no extra cost at all. You still have to pay for the license for this functionality... :)

becarefull !! u pay in latency end performance and compression has a lot of "IF"

packet size, protocols type and limits of the compressor himself (cpu resource and memory dedicated)

but for sure u guy already know that
sounds like advertise not a POST...please..

we should try to do different stuff in a pubblic forum!

Actually, you don't. I can share test results if you like. Latency stays pretty much constant, the only increase in latency happens when you really overload link capacity.

And which other performances are affected in your opinion?

compression is a process.. uses memory , cpu (FPGA) and resurces in general.
All the compressors i tried have a tresholds, after that some packet apppears to be compressed others not
that could increase also PDV
high PDV follow poor sync performances 4 exemple (1588)

could be intresting to compare different Latency inserted by compressor (different vendors)
and compressor max capability (throughput) and capability in terms of quantity/type of compressable packet(x sizes)..

"Latency stays pretty much constant" only if u compare compressed packets

try to compare compressed and "not" (out the compressor capability")..u could find 5, 8 ,10 micro sec differences
for some vendors
for others up to milli secs

let me know
