Purpose & Goals

This trial will involve mini team from Alcatel-Lucent which will demonstrate through a practical investigation of how the proposed 8/8/8 configuration in combination of 4/4/4 in 900 MHz band and 4/4/4 in 1800 MHz band in one rack will add benefits to Excelcomindo’s business activities.

Some of the purpose and goals that can be covered under this trial include:

Verification of 8/8/8 configuration radio functionalities such as GSM and EDGE and performance with Single BCCH feature activated
Demonstration and validation of Single BCCH functional capabilities to increase capacity in existing ALU BTS
Establishing scenarios to upgrade existing site to 8/8/8 configuration

Design & Provisioning

Within the trial, ALU will contribute the necessary all Twin TRX modules in both 900 and 1800 MHz bands and BTS design to achieve the trial goals. All TRX will be in 45W output power. Additional new ANC module might be installed if existing ANC modules in site are not enough.

All ALU BTS portfolios are ready to support the Twin TRX modules. Expertise and experiences from our engineers will ensure the effective implementation of this trial project.

The pilot system could be installed in an appropriate site selected by Excelcomindo in urban or rural areas. However, this trial will be focussed on increasing capacity thus expecting site in urban area for trial.

Installation Management

The Twin TRX modules, ANC module, and other ancillaries needed will be installed and operated by ALU as part of our contribution to Excelcomindo.

Sites will be carefully chosen for the trial so as to maximise the contribution to the trial goals.
