Traffic balancing

In GSM network using Huawei for G900 and E/// for G1800.
Which parameters will be changed to push traffic from G1800(E///) to G900(Huawei) ?

1)UL to OL & OL to UL thresholds
2)Assign Optimum Layer/Pref Subcell in HO of intra-BSC/Incoming to BSC HO Optimum Layer
3)Distance between boundaries of subcell

How about the result if I change:

G1800 (E*******)
- Increase LAYERTHR

G900 (Huawei)
- Decrease Inter-layer HO Threshold both for Huawei Cell & 2G External NB Cell

The traffic in G900 will be increased or not ???

You can also try increasing the Minimum access Rxlevel for 1800 band and see if 900 band carries more traffic

The question is why to push to G900 ? as usually the G1800 is the capacity layer. unless you have congestion on G1800 there is not need to push it to G900 .

you are right 1800 is a capacity layer, but anyway it has weaker indoor coverage than 900
so if we can balance the traffic between 900 and 1800 without playing with layer priority parameter, using features like EDB, it will be fine
u will benefit from 900 better coverage and at the same time 1800 will work as capacity layer at the busy hours only

You can play with HCS parameters like HCSIN and HCSOUT I think
normally 900 coverage is better than 1800 so if your traffic is focused in 1800 sites it means that there are priority for 1800 sites

How about you use your G1800 as overlaid and implement serious tilt to properly make use of the coverage, and for the G900 use it as underlaid, in the way subs within the overlaid will somehow appreciate that there is an increase of deep indoor coverage.

for balancing traffic from 900 to 1800 BTS , the most efficient way is to rise the value of C2 by increasing CRO (PI most = 1)

More than 6% traffic move from G18 to G9 already.

PS. In my network, Call setup only on G9, cannot do it on G18
