IRAT PS issue

Currently in my network am experiencing high IRAT PS drop whereas IRAT CS drop is good, any suggestions?

Also, can anyone throw light on whether 'compressed mode' applies to PS calls as well?

HI kindly check if the neighbors LAC defined in SGSN and you can check FMCS for PS if it Nokia threshold you can speed up the IRAT.
you can check one counter if the problem from 2G side or not (UTRAN_NOT_ABLE_EXC_ISHHO_NRT) or you can check cell not found counters

Check different thresholds for entering compressed mode per service, find from statistics/trace what is the cause value reason, do a drive test if it's need and etc.

How much higher is PS drop than CS? Your PS drop rate in IRAT will always be higher because of the reduced spreading factor for PS services (plus compressed mode reduces the spreading factor again and increases the UL interference).

Is the higher drop rate for all PS services? Or is it different for HS services? I remember in P6 there was a problem with HS->2G IRAT handover for certain types of data card.

You need to show what counters are triggered for the HO Failures. Are the calls dropping or is the HO just failing? In some cases, counters can be triggered for HO failure but the Handover may go ahead under another guise(eg, HSUPA HO may fail but PS R99 may work). Please post some more information as its not possible to diagnose without the counter information.

some new phones on E are camping on 2G network, like mini xperia...try to find that on Uor network..

At first, please check the interworking of 2G and 3G core, correct the configuration of 3G-2G Neighbor at 3G RNC, SGSN.
At the second, check the reason of drop is on Radio or Core Network by tracing the message at RNC, SGSN interface.
If the reason is on Radio Network, check the congestion of GPRS service.

I think that you should plan a list of works before you start to solve this case and do step by step. Good luck!

Although PS IRAT is still in 80% range, one of the main reason of PS drop is 'return to old ch phy ch'..
