Hello there,

NSN and Huawei can do managed services. Aircom supplies performance management tools like Optima.

For two years in a row NSN is still number 1 in managed services, as per Informatm.

Can you explain more what do you expect from these companies?

Regards,

:)

Can you specify what third party is... Since Aircom for example are not producing equipment.

IMHO.. the best performance management software is Business Object by SAP.
Well without the expert on the field who knows exactly how to get the best of it.. Any tools no matter how good it is will sitting duck doing nothing.

Thanks to all...

Adedia:- Normally all the OEM have their own performance management tool which supports their make. They do not support other manufactures equipment.

So there are few s/w developers which have developed s/w's which support all the OEM equipments, Like IBM's Tivoli....

Yes Simon is also one third party tool.

If anyother tool is known by u guys.....kindly do share.

Thanks in avance...

Hello there,

IBM Tivoli, is an integrated managment system. Such systems are reffered to as manager of the managers, performance managment is on of its functions. It collects stats from different systems and centralize under one platform.

There are two products which are purely dedicated for performance managment Metrica and Virtue.

Metrica is an old robust product ha sbeen in the market for the last 15 years I think. It is stable and demands good knowledge in UNIX. It uses arrays to store time series data related to telecom.

Virtue another product from the same company (IBM) based on Oracle. I do not have too much information about it, but it is more expensive than Metrica.

Regards,
:)

Hello copier,

These are the most important as far as I know. Actually one of ex-Metrica professionals contacted me once, to tell me that he and his friends started a separate job, in which they included products related to Ericsson.

If I find his address again, and I did not forget I will send it to you.

Regards,
:)

What is the difference between Traffica and SIMON? Anyone? Does this two tools can do the same things like UE monitoring by product (HTC, Samsung, Nokia, etc).

one of the most powerful and flexible post processing tools (3rd party) is SAP business object
can be mediated to any vendor , actually SAP is a huge company in world of IT and its software business object intelligence is used in wide sectors not only telecom

Hello HarryPotter,

I'll talk about Traffica because this is the one which I have read about.

Traffica is a tool that collects messages from probes plugged on network entities. Since it is NSN then their MSS and MGW can transfer data to Traffica without need to probes.

Having this enormous capability you can look into each type of message that run on signalling links, in big networks you need to have a special STP element for looking into messages.

Now back to your question, can it trace handsets. This is one of many things Traffica can do, you can use this feature to determine handsets distribution in your network.

To give a global view of Traffica, it can network global KPIs derived from signalling and displays them in one chart. So beyond locating fault points in the network it looks into the reason for this fault especially when it is related to Quality of Experience.

Traffica has its own scripting language which gives the operator a greater flexibility in developing reports according to needed requirements.

In brief the operator who looks to make his network a service oriented network, should look to buy Traffica (NSN should pay me for this ad :lol). Nevermind giving honest opinion to colleagues is more important.

I promised previously to post more info about Traffica, but I am a little bit busy these days like most of us, but I think I shoud start soon.

:)
