HI,

Dear Driss;

Installing the DCS1800 further to the GSM900 is discribed as below:

1. Newly installed DCS1800 BTS will provide the capability for absorbing traffic away from GSM900 BTS.
2. Cell selection parameters will be biased, to force the MS to select DCS1800 network to camp and set up calls.
3. During call setup, the traffic can be pushed to the DCS1800 cells (directed retry) when GSM900 cells in congested.
4. During dedicate mode, the Ms can handover from GSM900 cells to DCS1800 cells, as soon as the signal of DCS1800 cell is strong enough.

All the mentioned reasons above will ensure the below:

1. Reduce the affect of the external interference on these cells.
2. Ensure best quality in our network.
3. Increase the capacity to contain any increment in the traffic.

and for the equipments you need to install 1800 band DRU taking in consideration that your RBS is compatible to work the 1800DRU, additional to that you should check that your antenna is working with both bands.

Please let me know if you need further Info.

Thank you brother,

for installing DCS1800, if we need another BTS equipement or we just need an upgrade sofware of the existed BTS of GSM.

and I would like to describe me what means DRU 1800 and its usage.

thanks in advance .

my advice to u Driss dont go for the option of dual band cell if possible
u can make 900 and 1800 work together under the same cell as concentric cell
this scenario has has alot of advantages

Maybe what you mean is common BCCH in GSM/DCS colo network, which is use GSM frequencies as BCCH and DCS frequencies as TCH. But I don't have the detail document :(

Main advantage is much more freq to be used and less interference, main disadvantage is poor signal inside buildings.

it's all depend on frequency that operator has. Secondly indoor penetration for high frequency rather bad than low frequency. Depend on operator strategic plan to do this
