KU Band Vs C-Band
• Softnet operates in Ku-Band frequency.
• Previously, C-Band services were more popular than Ku-band due
to susceptibility of Ku-Band to weather conditions such as
rain and fog.

Why Ku Band?
• Smaller antennas are required. Less radio power is required in
Ku-band than C-band to provide the same signal strength.
• Cheaper :Ku-band equipment is 3 times cheaper than C band.
• Aesthetically better : A typical Ku-band antenna is 1.2m or 1.8m
and a typical C-band antenna is 1.8 or 2.4m
• Softnet’s availability is 99.7% with ACM and AIS.
FACT!
Ku-band terminals are in wider use worldwide than C-band
The majority of users accept a 0.4% difference in availability
upon consideration of the initial capital investment required.
