View Full Version : What are the other parameters to change when increasing the CPICH power

Dears,

I want to increase the CPICH power from 30 to 33dBm, can you please advise regarding the other related parameters to change as well ( example: PtxTargetHSDPA...). HSDPA and HSUPA are both enabled, RU20 release.

Actually, only that parameter change is needed, everything else is relative.

You only need to change the CPICH power, I'm not aware of anything else that should be changed in connection with that.

please consider with Power Upgrade if you increasing PCPICH Power you must aware with power congestion later. Please Consider This

Since DL Common control channels must be heard over the whole cell, thus their power setting is designed for "cell edge". DL Common Channels do not have a power control and use fixed power setting. The power of the common physical channels are set relative to the CPICH. for example:
PtxSecSCH -3 dB 30 dBm
PtxPrimaryCCPCH -5 dB 28 dBm
PtxSCCPCH 1 (SF=64) 0 dB 33 dBm
PtxSCCPCH 2 (SF=256) -5 dB 28 dBm
PtxSCCPCH 3 (SF=128) -2 dB 31 dBm
PtxPICH -8 dB 25 dBm
PtxAICH -8 dB 25 dBm
PtxOffsetEAGCH -5 dB 28 dBm
PtxOffsetERGCH -11 dB 22 dBm

Please be aware that increasing CPICH power by X dBm will also increase common channel power PtxPrimaryCCPCH, PtxPICH, PtxAICH, etc. by x dBm. Because these common channels are relative to CPICH power but with different ratios. If you sum all the increase in common channel with a given increase in CPICH power, the answer will be almost equal(about 5 hundredths watts short for common channel).

In your case, if you increase CPICH from 30 to 33 dBm, then the cell will actually consume 36dBm(4 watts) without the traffic yet. Another increase of 3dB will make the minimum power 39dBm(8 watts). I'm still looking for the document I have before to prove this, I'll share once I found it. :)
