NEC is not a vendor offering cellular equipment. They do have MW solutios but they are are not present in cellular world in access network (BTS, BSC, NodeB, RNC)... If you need something specific from NEC, try with the search on the forum. I know that you can fins a lot of information about Nera MW solutions. I guess that NEC is also present in that way on the forum...

You can't search for NEC cause search is looking for words which have 4 or more characters, and ignores those that have 3 or less, take a better look at the search page. So if you, for example, wanted to search for Nera, you'd get some results. Same as in when you're doing business... better look for Nera than NEC. :)

Search engine is not working even if you have words longer than 3 letters. It does sometimes but sometimes not. To do the search, because of many threads, the best way would be to enter not just the name of the vendor but name of the equipment or the purpose (e.g. PDH link). That will take the one who is searching to relevant threads.
Anyway, I can say that I also would like more to work with Nera than NEC but it is matter of region and specific situatioans in the field that you need to solve...

NEC is a vendor... although not as big as the big 5, in the order:
1) Sony E*******
2) Alcatel-Lucent
3) Nokia Siemens Network
4) Huawei
5) ZTE

Kindly visit the following for more info on NEC solutions/products:
For Telecom Operators : Solutions & Services | NEC (http://www.nec.com/global/solutions/nsp/)

Kindly give thanks/reputation to me if you find this response useful. :)

NEC is a major player in Microwave radios (especially TDM) and Optics... Check out for the leaders in providing the TDM equipment world-wide and you'll see that NEC is one of the leaders.
It's optical business is not quite famous around here coz the major market captured by NEC is Japan itself and quite some volume in North America. Optical equipment by NEC is quite expensive hence it is not "quite preferred" in MEA, Asia and Africa...
It's a wrong perception that NEC does not make 2G/3G equipment. but again, since the equipment is quite expensive, it never got quite popular...

A month ago, someone showed me a couple of RFC testers used for Ethernet testings, made by NEC... NEC makes a lot of things.. it's just that they don't get to us....

for my experience, in north africa NEC is well appreciated by Operators even expensive, cause it is well known as the best in term hardware stability, so maintenance will be easy

No doubt, NEC has legendary field proven MTBF's.. i once saw a rusty NEC radio dismantled from a coastal site due to relocation of the site... it was still working..
