hi guys,

in the network i supervised, there are some cells experienced power congestion. in huawei system, how is the best solution to solved this problem. many thanks for your response.

maybe overlaping coverage.

Hi,

If the cell in a real ower congestion ,power upgrade is necessary but there are some ideas to reduce the power congestion:
1- Check the SHO ratio, try to minimize the SHO overheads
2- Push PS users to be mapped over HSDPA
3- Check the coverage, CPICH foot print, reducing the CPICH or downtilting the antenna may reduce the coverage and save some power from boarder users
4- Ensure that VSWR is normal
5- Try to use Micro NodeBs with Fiber connectivity to decrease the feeder losses
good luck.

please add rep if this is useful :)

you can also enable LDR feature for the power congestion, there are many actions like InterRAT handover and Rate reduction.

Hi all,
All the said above is good approach.
Just to share some of my thoughts -
check if this is UL or DL power congestion.
In case it is UL Call admission control can be modified by increasing "Uplink total equivalent user number" if it is set to low levels (e.g the default one -feel free to try higher values 100, 100+). If it is DL check the HW type - maybe MAXTXPWR is not set to the maximum allowed by the HW (e.g MTRU supports 46 dBm but Max TXPOWER is set to 43 dBM).

I thin this can be the last solution.
it is better to follow the steps described by Sala70..
start by checking SHO rate

HI all,

If there are UL power congestion, maybe the SSCCH power is lower to the baseline value.

questions not spesifik, what's power congestion happend?

1. HSUPA.Power.Cong (http://www.finetopix.com/Mt-67191841.html)
2. R99.Power.Cong (http://www.finetopix.com/Mt-67191841.html)
3. HSDPA.Power.Cong (http://www.finetopix.com/Mt-67191841.html)

Hi,

for the HSPA, beside the R99 service power,Nodeb will assaign all power to HSPA service when HSPA need more power. And the power of R99 is a constant value, but the power of HSPA is not fix.

Dear Lamagica,

You need to investigate for the problem before, since each one is having a proper solution, If you've find out the problem then we can assist you else it will be a worthless answers...

thanks khatib, actually one of the reasons perhaps the settings of cpich power in huawei were bigger (hence more coverage / overshooting) than e******* node b (this is for a swap node b case).. parameters settings and antenna downtilting should improve the performance..

Coverage (PCPICH) should be your main culprit. Remember when you have power congestion it will only be related to R99 since HSDPA is Schedules and thus has no congestion as is. Also, you can try increasing the thresholds for the power admission. This is a quick win but will sacrifice your HSDPA throughput since power admin is only checked for R99.
