Hi,

Can someone who's got E******* background tell me what is the tools or knowledge that I need to know to become a 3G RF Planning and Optimization Engineer?

apart from mon3em's suggestion, you need to learn

1. TCPU (for planning)
2. TEMS Investigation, Discovery or Actix (for DT and analysis)
3. MCOM, Citirix, BO, Mapinfo, Exert
4. CNA would be an added advantage

For planning we generally use TEMS Cell planner and Optimization process consists of Drive tests using TEMS Investigation kit attached with a TEMS mobile to collect samples of network.
Tools like MapInfo,GE,MCOM are essential basic tools we need for analysis!
Also there are many post processing tools available.:)
