Hi friends,

Can anybody please explain what we can conclude by TCH mean holding time value?

How we can calculate this value in E******* BSS ?

What is normal value in network?

Thanks

The meaning of TCH Mean Hold Time (MHT) is simple - it is average TCH seizure time in E******* it calculated as TCH_Mean_Hold_Time= TCH_Traffic_Erl*3600/(TFESTAB+THESTAB) where TCH_Traffic_Erl=(TFTRALACC+THTRALACC)/360

More interesting KPI is Call Mean Hold Time - is is average Call duration: Call_Mean_Hold_Time-TCH_Traffic_Erl*3600/(TFCASSAL+THCASSAL)

The major difference between TCH and Call Mean Hold Time that for TCH calculation in denominator utilized counter which counts Normal Call Assignments and Incoming HO Assignments, while for Call MHT only Normal Call Assignments counted (only new calls).

Enjoy

Can you please explain more about TCH mean holing time? what we can conclude with this value in network?

To which parameters this value depended?
For example if this value is lower than normal what does mean?
What does it mean if it is higher than normal value?

Hi,
TCH mean holding time is important in 2 aspects:
1. If it's lower than usual it's means that there are some problems in cell: Calls are often dropped, but you can conclude it also from CDR, or Calls are too early Handovered to another cell or PIng-pong HO are taking place in this cell and you must check ADJC definitions or overlapping of cells or Interference or Path balance etc. if, of course, cell doesn't have specific configuration (like colocated 900 and 1800 sectors)
2. If it's unusually high then it's first sign of high fraud level in cell and you must check it with Billing and SSS guys.

Dear When you have low mean holdinf time it means you have problem on that cells so the calls not stay long enough they do handover . so what could be the reaon.
1- hardware
2- interference
3-congestion and so on
If the value is high it means the calls stay long than normal which also this need to checked.
1- no coverage overlap.
2-neighbour interfered.
3- neighbour has HW probelm and so on.

Dears,
How to calculate MHT for whole BSC not for cell level?
