Should be a compensation for those who shared a lot of documents, ideas and with even the hectic work/project schedules, still find time to share, help and contribute interesting, make sense ideas and knowledge...

Telecoms Academy is one provider of telecom certificates (nice ploy). I remember doing a WIMAX Certification program with them two years ago. They did not bother to even inform me about the whereabouts of my certificate. I did not call them either to claim my certificate, because the program was very mediocre, and the certificate in itself has little use for me.

WCET is a professional certification (Welcome to IEEE WCET - IEEE Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies Certification (http://www.ieee-wcet.org)) but telling the truth I do not know what is the real value of it on the job market...

Employers care too little abour certificates. They value the experience. Does any org provide On-the Job training or inernship kind things?

They value the knowledge rather than the experience. Sometime experience doesn't reflect the knowledge.

Having a certificate is good, but to cope with the material is rather difficult.

I also went to an NSN training. It was great, but the best thing was when it was also followed with workshop.

I dislike those trainings without workshops.

Hi friends,

I have searched for certifications and found that NSN is making one for LTE and found that NSN has partnership with prometric testing .
but that all what I have found.
Anyone know any additional info about NSN certifications?
How much does it costs ? and if it has any restrictions like internal employee of NSN or other things?

I think these kind of certifications is quite complex for telecommunication since every vendor would have its own certification. Btw, experiences is more valuable then certificate.

Usually experience and recommendations from previus employers/jobs are the best sources of good people in telecomm , I will always prefer an old fox that can solve any problem on the field right away, or find the right person that can save the day than a bunch of fancy papers on a folder... Any certification only tells people that you showed up to class and passsed a test at some point, specially on those given by vendors to operators, but a personĀ“s real value is proven on the field. No matter how impressive your CV looks on paper, but your best presentation card is your past work and how satisfield are your previous employers.

Although certification might not hold a very great value, but good training certainly holds some value in helping you learn new technology.

nowadays it's almost useless without actual experience. You should be at least CCNP. But if you want to get knowledge in IP CCNA is good choice.

Hi,
obviuosly internet and this forum provide a great number of information, it's important to understand what kind of aspect can fit to your necessities:

If you want to apply the RF Optimization you have to try to investigate the training done by The most important Manifacturer. Obviously if you want somethin not related to their products you have to investigate on internet with attentio.

Dear Friend
Please be careful from Huawei Tricks
I was a SIEMENS RNC eng then NSN Eng then NSN had to close some departments
so Huawei recruited me in a high tech position just to collect other vendors technical information but I never allowed them and left the company , during my work for more than 2 years I discovered the Huawei hidden philosphy , Huawei just copies other vendor equipments and they train and transfer the needed skills only to chineese , other nationalities they never transfer them more than 50% of needed skills , that was discussed clearly infront of me in Huawei meeting
taking any certificates from Huawei is no use , They have a very bad strategy in the telecom market and they are just willing to spread .

Hello Guys,

I believe a certification will surely help me to upgrade my knowledge on RF,

Every simple certification class I have done has never really netted me that much. I took CCNA and I would say it good knowledge. Not a bad Cert for interview. My HAM Radio License has helped in a few jobs. You will run across a few HAM Radio guys. I had one hiring manager from Nextel and that got me in. I have used it in my resume and it helps. Best certification is the G.R.O.L. (General Radio Operators License with Radar Endorsement.) I suggest http://www.w5yi.org/page.php?id=25

Good luck as it is tough. My other thoughts are try to be with positive people in whatever small job you find. You will find someone that will click with you when you show you have a high spirited interest. Your contacts from project to project are the lifeline to continue. Dedicate and work hard. However, Enjoy it. I truly enjoy what I do. I branch out to do jobs other than what I am hired to do. Currently, I added Beta testing of three different hardware and software projects. I love it, but it does take up my extra time that is not extra.

Also, train others on what you have learned. I have had a couple that passed my level of expertise and they have pulled me in on some kewl projects. I just had a call from a guy that I trained that knew nothing 10 years ago. He thought he would be let go from the project back then. Today, he called to say thanks for helping and believing in him. He works for ATT up in Detroit now and was contract for a few years there and made it to perm.

Be patient and take one step at a time. Best,

yassanino
