Hi All!
How to Active "Some commercial Qualcomm chipset derived phones and data cards may not have diagnostics reporting enabled by default" without contact E******* Support ?

Refer to:
http://www.e*******.com/solutions/tems/support/investigation/sup_ti_swhw_9.0.shtml

Some commercial Qualcomm chipset derived phones and data cards may not have diagnostics reporting enabled by default, and E******* is not at liberty to distribute information on how to enable this function. Customers desiring to use such devices with TEMS Investigation therefore need to contact the relevant supplier or operator in each case. These phones are marked with * in the table below.

Hi All
So far that i have tested, Samsung SGH-Z560 and SGH-Z720 Phones are connectable with TEMS Investigation and can perform good measurement without any need of a special firmware. As well as almost all (but not all) Samsung CDMA phones, as they are an Qualcomm based phones. Also ******** CDMA Phones as V3m, V3c, W362 etc.... It's nice to try, but I think E******* put no warranty on this as we can buy it freely from the open market.

Kyocera KX2 connects easily , there is no requirement for special firmware, I have tested it, and kyocera is supposed to be good phone for measurement and goos sensitivity.

Hi,

In Qualcom shipset based phones no need to flash ur phone with special firmware, you need only to activate the diagnostic port via AT commands.

I confirm that my Huawei E618 Data Card is working with TEMS Inv 8.0.3 with normal drivers from CD that came with the card. I just plugged in the card and open Inv 8. I made a refresh in Ctrl & Config and the card was automaticaly detected. Pressed connect all and working. :)

I can confirm. That Samsung needs to set mandatory Diag Port via some Codes. I see this often with request for BitPim fileaccess.

Z630 for example:

*#3695147*#
Pass on Internals:
*#1456380*#

USB Driver
Now you can select Haje Soft
or
Qualcomm USB

Can someone share the various AT commands that will be needed to activate diagnostic ports for various Samsung models (say something like a database) for those people who other models of Samsung phones.

Or is the command more or less the same for phone models.

Hi,

The command AT$SUSBC=1 is Samsung proprietary and will only work with Samsung UEs. Now it might be because the phone you describe is quite old, it doesn't support this command.

As an alternative solution, try this..

Older Sasmung phones have a test mode that you can access by typing *#123580#

If it works, go to menu item 9, then 6 and then pick Qualcomm USB.

This accomplishes the same thing as the AT command in the original post. If you play around with the test mode you can see some more interesting info like lac, rac, frequencies etc.

what is command if we want to back in Samsung mode?

BR//
to go back to samsung mode the command is

AT$SUSBC=0

but the thing here is ,

at first to switch to trace port we use the modem port which is visible in samsung mode.
but after execution of the command
AT$SUSBC=1
the modem port and the serial port disappears
and the hyperterminal cant connect to the ports previously ment for samsung modem

that problem i faced.
but a workaround is.
i connected the phone with bluetooth connection.
via bluetooth modem i connectd hyperterminal and executed
AT$SUSBC=0
and the samsung mode activated.
so bluetooth modem is always there to help you out in any mode.

Hi David,

When you type at$susbc=1, you are de-activating the samsung modem port (that you are using to connect via hyperterminal) so it is normal that you cannot communicate to the phone anymore.

However, if you unplug the phone and re-plug it in the laptop, you should get a Qualcomm modem (with a different port number assigned by the OS) activated. If you have never connected a Qualcomm modem to your laptop you should also get the Found New Hardware Wizzard appearing asking for drivers.

Have you tried this? If so, what is the behaviour when you re-plug the phone after issuing the at$susbc=1 command?

Are there any modems available in the Device Manager under "Modems"?

I had a look at the phone specs for the M620 and it seems it only supports 2G. As far as I know, Samsung only use Qualcomm chipsets in their dual mode UEs (2G & 3G) which would explain why no Qualcomm ports get activated.

Do you have a dual mode Samsung UE you could try with?

I am afraid I don't know what the AT*TRACE command does..

We could enable "Test mode" in SamSung (z560 tested) by having codes entered as below
1st *#0011#
2nd *#9999*0#
3rd *#123580#

We could disable "Test mode" with End call button

Deatail of the 3rd option: there are a LOT of options in there, what we're looking for. Diving into with up/down navigation

1 Debug Screen
2 MM information
3 RR information
4 GSM Neighbour Cell
5 GPRS Information
6 SIM Information
7 Handover, Call log
8 Phone Control
9 Antenna Test (Setup/View)

Hit # again and you get the next page of menu:

1 Debug Screen
2 Version Information
3 RF Test
4 UMTS rf nv
5 Read gsm rf nv
6 Write gsm rf nv
7 Base Band
8 Audio
9 Common

Anyone has manual for Samsung test mode? Please upload

Activate and Deactivate Qualcomm mode without using Hyperterminal
1. *#123580#
2. [9] Common
3. [6] USB Configuration
4. [1] Samsung USB / [2] Qualcomm USB

Sorry...kind of late but...

First: Check your Software License, Hasp Key must be licensed to connect that Chipset, my qualcom chipset is MSM7200 so i have that license, on Key reader utilitie you can see that as QUALCOMM C License.

After confirm that you can try with the code: *#0523# and press # 4 times.

Then follow the steps described by User1234 and activate Qualcomm USB

Then Connect the phone and install the drivers(previusly downloaded)

hi

yes you can lock a Qualcomm phone ot a nodeb / scrmabling code by setting the registers 2524 & 3525 through QxDM

Yes, a lot of qualcomm based phone have diag port , sometimes enabled by defaut sometimes not, i have an e*******W25 router equipated with msm6280 sierra wireless card inside, linux is running inside, a tool bridge Diag serial port > to ip serial (serial over tcp/ip), Tems connect on it by the network (it use network gateway ip W25).

But i have a question, someone is able to lock on Base station ?
Any nvitems or something ?

it could be useful.

Thanks for your experiences.

Dear Colleagues..
wanna asking a little case..
I use TEMS 9.0 and try for fun connected it with CDMA phone bundling by local operator, it's working at 1900 Mhz.
After install phone driver, and set the TEMS to Qualcom chipset, and IT CAN be CONNECTED to TEMS software..!!
At glance, parameter which i need to collect can be appeared, BUT then PROBLEM comes.. :L
The phone can't response when try to execute calling from TEMS, but no problem when i insert manually from the handphone.

All respect to all master here who experianced with TEMS software and CDMA phones,,
a little question from me..
how it can be??
Do you have any suggest what can i do to make it work properly..??
Thanks before.. :)

for additonal information
- I use Haier C700 Handphone
- CDMA handphone which working at 1900 Mhz
- Handphone and can be used to external modem for CDMA 2000 1x technology
