I posted two topics regarding this subject but nobody help me.
For the last time, I attached a picture, this picture describe my problem.
I’m working in creating a propagation model for UMTS using AIRCOM ASSET, I finished the model tuning but now I should enter the clutter parameters (through clutter loss, offfset) but I don’t know what I should do? When I should give it negative values or positive, 1 or 5 or 6……..please advice.
I don’t have enough time, so could you please advice me ASAP.

Please friend give us some time in order to give you help
if you use atoll ,it is for me easy according drive test logfile because you can see
the real value and estimated value in the same time and from the clutter parameters you can calibrate you model by giving negative values or positive, in order to have the same value real and estimate according each type of cluther open area urbain dense urbain ......forest.....
i advice you to follow this method

Hello, applying clutter loss should be an integrated part of model tuning. They cannot be separated. If you use a default set of clutter through loss and offset to obtain a set of K values, and that is about it. Because if you adjust through loss and clutter offset again, then the K values would be invalidated.

"Offset" only affect one predicted bin, a large and positive offset means large pathloss and weak signal strength. "offset" is like an adjustment to the pathloss intercept.
"Through loss" would affect all of the bins further away from the transmitter (up to the calculation distance), and "through loss" is like an adjustment to the pathloss slope.

Follow the doc ' How-to Guide to Model calibration 2004' also posted on this forum. With the nessecary drivetest data it becomes rather easy to get reasonable results. :-)

Dear DCA
I'm the poster of How to guide for model calibration, tekk me what did you understand from it?

Dear Hassen,
I;m using Aircom ASSET, not Atoll

It gives you a starting point on to calibrate your model. WIth the right set of drivetests you can find the values to come to a standard deviation of 8 dB which is not to but ;-) Maybe the question is, what didn't you understand of the doc?

Hi Friend
I know but I think this is the same principle

you can try your own method ,accoording the same type of cluster and GPS coordinate for each mesurement, by comparison the readings value on Aircom and Tems I am sure that you can calibrate
your model but of course it take more time because you need more events .

good luck

I believe that if you try to compare Aircom and Tems you ran into trouble.
As the doc describes, just look at the graphs in your modeltuning. A model can be to negative for some classes or to optimimistic which needs to be compensated.

Hi all,

Where can I get the map that works with Asset 3G?

Thank you.

clutter data is expensive (if you want accurate data sets). For heigth sets use SRTM data which is free (90m resolution worldwide, 30 m US only) which can be easily converted for aircom

Hi DCA,

Can you tell me how to convert the SRTM data to aircom?

Thank you.

Use FME
Also Globalmapper can help you with this task (convert to Mapinfo grid file and then use vmconvert.exe)

What is FME? Please let me know. How can I get it?

Thank you for information, Please give a good guidances to prepare suitable maps for ASSET, if we can download 90m resolution Freely, please give us a link or sample.

hi fotondiamond ,
use this ftp link : ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/
and after u get there , use srtm v2 directory and use srtm1 (30 m accuracy (us only)), srtm3 (90 m accuracy , the world)

cheers,
