Friends, How could I get updated vectors (tab files) for any city or any country's main and sub-roads?

Please advice, as I have to do some drive tests and without these vectors I will get confused.

Difficult to find vectors (tab files) for any city or any country's main and sub-road for free my friend. but I have a solution for you ,from GPS Garmin receiver you can create your own vector by using MapSource software. and than try to find by your self how to convert mapdata to tab file.
If you are intersted about Mapsource software with licence ask me!

According to your idea, we can get pictures from google earth, then digitize it "raster image" and save as tab files
it will work, but vector is better

I'm sure we could get it, this forum let me believe that we could get all what we want if we are patience and hardworker

Thanks, hassen

hi friend

google earth map are not necessarily recent
but the idea is to create your own vector in order to update your data according
to the recent sub-road ,by the way why we need some time to make drive test
or site visite ,simply there are new building new minor road in this area and
I don't think so that you can get updating Map from google earth friend.

for some European and American countries you can find good maps on net but in GPS format, there should be someway to convert them to tabular format!

how do i save garmin mapsource data to mapinfo tab?
you do not generate maps from garmin map source becuase this map file is private maps of garmin and cause of garmin business , but if you have paper maps or dwg maps from your interest Area for paper map you should scan it and then geocode maps for example with Ermapper Software and then Digitize map from Ermapper Tools until generate Vector Map format.

For DWG map format you can convert it to ESRI Shp or Mapinfo tab file, if you have any vector map i Can convert it to your requested formats.

You can try to use some tools for transform raster image maps to vector format.

Vextractor is a tool for transforming raster images into vector ±
± formats ±
± by building centerlines and outlines. This tool could be used for ±
± vectorizing ±
± of charts, maps, schemes and other similar images for input to CAD & ±
± GIS ±
± systems. An application has an option to setup a reference for ±
± images, in other words to assign a real coordinates to certain raster ±
± points. Thus, you can get vector data not only in the raster ±
± coordinates, ±
± but real geographical coordinates or in the chart coordinates.

Also R2V:
± Welcome to R2V for Windows (9X, NT, 2000), advanced raster to ±
± vector conversion software for automated map digitizing and GIS ±
± data capture rom scanned maps, aerial photos and satellite imagery! ±
± R2V is currently being used in more than 60 countries. ±

I try before to use it, but do not get good result. ~~tired~~

how do i save garmin mapsource data to mapinfo tab?

Dear,
If do you mean save mapsource data like Tracks and waypoints to mapinfo tab, maybe you can use this one,
-save your garmin data to gpx format
-open global mapper than batch convert.
-choose gpx than mapinfo tab
-than add files
--OK
or
-view your data(mapsource)to google earth than save it to kml.
-open global mapper than batch convert
-choose kml to mapinfo tab
-add files
-ok

Sorry if this is not what you mean..
Thanks and best regard
